In this time and age we are faced with multiple formats and the process of bringing them together properly. 
This DI workflow is a combination of the right equipment and the right editorial staff.
DSW’s in house editorial suites are deigned for a multitude of formats. These suites are capable of editing 2K DPX files, uncompressed High Definition 4:2:2 - 4:4:4, Standard Definition acquisitions of all types, and we are currently testing a 4K workflow utilizing desktop editorial. Our equipment plays back to monitor 2K resolution pixel for pixel.  This allows for in-house digital color correction at a very modest price.
Our suites also have a down conversion to HD resolution, which is displayed on 50" monitors for our client's review. |
Lately you may have seen or heard the term “Uncompressed High Definition 1080p”. At Digital Studios West, Inc. we have been working with this format from the start.
Our entire workflow has always included HD technology because we understand that media and design evolve and require a commitment to always bring to the public the very best in digital imagery.
Our suites are all on-line, with large amounts of storage, and the ability able to edit uncompressed HD footage with ease. One advantage we find with HD is the ability to telecine straight from film to uncompressed HD format. This allows for a very effective on-line edit while cutting the cost of the more traditional multiple process film edit.
